  Having just been to Miami, we were dying for another good Cuban meal and happen to see Havana 1920 while enjoying drinks and cigars directly across the street from this place in the Gaslamp Quarter. We were a little hesitant as there didn't seem to be a lot of patrons but decided to give it a shot anyway, hopeful.
  
  We were seated upstairs at a table by the 5th Ave windows at enjoying music from the venue next door.  For appetizer we ordered the Yuca Frita which was delicious and served with 2 dipping sauces (Havana Royale, mmmm) that were flavorful and complimented the fries well. Entrees were the Bistec Havana (Angus flank steak) and the Lechón Asado (marinaded roasted pork). Both were absolute perfection - tender, juicy, meats with delectable seasoning combinations served with black beans over rice, and fried sweet plantains. The portions were very generous (enough to share) and our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients.
  
  We loved our experience and will definitely be back!

  Food, ambience, customer service were all top notch! We're visiting San Diego for about 36 hours with no true plans. Gaslamp district seemed like a pretty popular place, so we roamed around aimlessly until we stumbled on this gem. It's small and quaint, but packs a foodie punch!!! We ate:
  
  Appetizers: fried plantains & sweet plantains
  
  Drinks: cafecito Cubano & Cuban root beer
  
  Entrees: Sergio's Paella Vegetariana & SANDWICH CUBANO + yuca fries with yummy dipping sauces

  Awesome! Super friendly staff and outstanding food. We ordered one of every appetizer and found each and every one excellent. Rarely does a restaurant actually deserve 5-stars, but this is an exception. If you want a great experience in the Gaslamp area, this is the place.
  
  Oh, our server, Sherryca, was amazing. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely likes her job!

  This is one of my favorite spots in Gaslamp. Everyone on the staff is super friendly and they make you feel welcome. The atmosphere and decor is great as well. Laid-back vibe with some great food and strong drinks.
  
  Favorites:
  Cuban Espresso Drinks - These were so good. We ordered the Latte Dulce and the Cubano Cortado. Perfect pick-me up for breakfast or any time of day really.
  
  Churros - Unique flavor with the perfect chew. The sugar dusting had a bit of a kick from a bit of cayenne in the seasoning. It sounds like it shouldn't work but it was perfect!
  
  Cuban Sandwich - THE PERFECT SANDWICH!!! Seriously this was so good. Slices of their slow roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on perfectly toasted Cuban bread.
  
  Ropa Vieja - So much flavor in this dish. Perfectly cooked shredded beef with some equally great rice and beans. And some fried sweet plantains for good measure!

  We enjoyed an absolutely terrific meal, complete with cocktails. While the place was fully booked the first time we visited, we were so thankful that all 5 of us got a table tonight. Everything was perfect! I can't think of anything that was left than perfect. VERY highly recommended!
